FAQs
What is resin preservation?
Epoxy resin is polymer that is known for being strong, durable, and resistant to heat and chemicals. Once cured, epoxy resin has a similar finish and appearance to glass with the feel of acrylic. It will essentially last “forever”
Epoxy resin is sensitive to UV rays and will gradually amber (or yellow) over time. This is a natural part of the aging process. Keeping your preserved piece away from sunlight and heat will slow down this process, but will not stop it completely
Ambering is to be expected and cannot be prevented or fixed. Pieces that have colored backgrounds or include blue or purple flowers disguise ambering better than completely clear pieces
Can you make me a perfect piece?
While I strive for perfection, no piece will be 100% perfect. Many factors such as the condition of the flowers when I receive them and how they dry are outside of my control. Small air bubbles, color shifts, imperfections, visible layer lines, and ambering are all a natural part of the resin preservation process. I do my best to minimize these so that you will cherish the memories for years to come
I can promise that I will be in frequent contact with you from the time you request a consultation, to when I receive the flowers, after they have dried and you approve the design proposal, up until you receive the finished pieces back from me
Flowers that do NOT preserve well
Succulents, Daylilies, Iris, Mums, Orchids, Berries, Sunflowers, any flower with a HIGH moisture content or that is extremely delicate
Flowers that DO preserve well
Carnations, Ranunculus, Spray Roses, Hydrangea, Queen Anne's Lace, Baby's Breath, Delphinium, Roses
Many colors dry much darker than their fresh colors and white varieties tend to dry to a beige color, which are still very beautiful and can add a vintage look to the final piece
How much does it cost?
Just like your memories, each piece is custom to you and your event. Prices will vary greatly depending on the size of the piece, the size of the flowers, the number of pieces ordered, and how much resin is used
Pieces with smaller, more compact flowers like Spray Roses may cost less than a large piece with flowers like Peonies that will take up a lot of room
Once we meet and decide on what pieces you want you will have a full cost breakdown before any work starts
How long does it take?
Most orders will take 4-6 months to complete. This may seem like a long time, but it takes 4-6 weeks alone to make sure the flowers are completely dry before the design and resin pouring process can be started
